Post Vday Date (part 1 of 4) : DB Lunch

Bu and I didn't have a chance to celebrate Vday last Feb 14 since he was miles away getting chummies with the elephants :P. He was in BKK for a business trip so it was a long distance / iMessage love affair. Anyway, here's the Post Vday version of our date. The original plan was to eat lunch at Mozza before the show starts. Unfortunately, it was packed and we didn't call to reserve a table...boo hoo! Oh well, thanks to DB for saving the hungry bears and having a table for two available. I'm not complaining, I have eaten there before and it was a fab experience.
This time, we avoided the steak and burgers. It was meant to be a cheat day but we didn't want to push it.
Unlimited bread ftw! We were so hungry we finished the first serving in a heartbeat :|
Bu's Casserole Espagnole (Mussels, Clams, Shrimp, Chorizo, Olives and Tomatoes) - YUM!
My Eggs Benny (Ham, Spinach, Hollandaise Sauce and English Muffin)
Poached to perfection! I'm still dreaming about it :) I wantieeee!
Bu's drink: The Pain Reducer (Green Apple, Lemon and Orange juice)
For dessert: Claufotis Au Chocolat (Warm Flourless Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Sorbet and Vanilla Ice Cream. Perfect way to end the meal. I can still imagine the warm chocolate syrup oozing from the cake after the first slice. Aww...
Love love the lacey blue dress I wore. Ready for summer :)
Happy Vday Bu! Better late than never! :) Lovely lunch to start our all day date! <3 <3 <3

Beat the HEATH!

Heath is probably one of Singapore Expo's best kept secrets. With too many fast food chains, local cuisine restaurants and hawker center surrounding the area, this place is a breath of fresh air. Found out about it when we were en route to the ticketing counter of A Moving Masterpiece. At first glance, it felt relaxing and quiet. Perfect place for a dinner date, casual lunch or just a nice chillax hang out moment.
And for Makz' bday treat, it was decided - with the scorching hot weather, we had to beat the HEATh! :)

It has a mini bar and seats under umbrellas. So cozy and so homey!
Menu consists of mostly Mexican and Western foodies.
Our great food choices!
1. Spicy Buffalo Wings
2. Matta Ragazza drink
3. Sizzling Beef
4. Grilled Sirloin Steak
5. Pizza Prosciutto Funghi
Team Behdings with Brendan. Thanks Makz for the lunch treat! :)
And the best way to end a great meal....DESSERT!
They have a nice gelato selection!
Nom nom nom for the Rum and Raisin gelato! <3

When a Friend Turns 26, You Bring Her to a Newly Opened Branch of Han's

When we were younger, we were so excited to grow up and blow the incrementing candles in our birthday cakes each year. By the time we reach our 20s, the candles just become numbers and the box ticking begins.

Every decade has it's range - the lower limit, the median and the upper limit. The digits are no longer important. It's all about the early, mid and late ranges. Now I wonder, what was I doing on my early 20s? Good riddance! Feels like a decade ago. But for my friend Makriz, she's still on her mid 20s - where the real QLC (quarter life crisis) takes place. Some people say life begins at 30 but in reality, it begins the moment we are mature enough to realize that life is waiting to happen. 26 is a good number to start with...

As good friends, we wanted it to be extra special. Han's opening was just in time. We can have a nice lunch and a delish chocolate truffle cake for dessert.

I knew Han's serves good food and desserts. It's always my go to place at the airport so it was refreshing to see it as an actual restaurant / food place with decent chairs and a lot of cakes on display.
Their set menu was not bad either. With 9.80sgd, you can get a set meal - soup of the day, main course, iced lemon tea and dessert. I got the grilled pork in black pepper sauce. Yum!
But of course, birthdays will never be the same without a surprise birthday cake.
Oh, and since she was so touched by our surprise bday cake, she treated us with with some Spinelli Matcha T Twist! <3
Happy Birthday Makriz. Life is waiting to happen - go for it!

AM in PM : the 02-02 girls night

Shoe shopping turned girl bonding. It was how I would describe my previous night with my good friend AM. The original plan was to raid Melissa's store and find some great flats because they had a Vday sale - but it was a disappointment. I must say, their Christmas sale is way better...50% off baby!

The night was still young and we never run out of stuff to talk about (to think, we are actually housemates and we see each other almost everyday) so it was the perfect time to bond over Happy Lemon's Cocoa with Rocksalt and Cheese, beauty products, tea and macarons. Besides, the boys were out too playing bball. :p

First stop after Happy Lemon: Sephora
Such a happy place. Think of it as a toy store when you were young. That's how we felt about Sephora. All those pretty little things - shiny and smelling so good! Just like this Lemon+Sage body butter from Bliss. The name Bliss says it all. Definitely a must try!
Second Stop: TWG
The girls got tired of walking so need to continue the chat sitting down with a nice warm cup of tea. The Silver Moon Tea is also a must try. A TWG blend of green tea with a grand berry and vanilla bouquet, suave, with just a hint of spice. It's very subtle and mild. Great for a chillax evening.
Mr Tea Pot short and stout. So cute mah!
It was a delightful night with a great girlfriend. Too bad, Charms is on mommy duties and we can't just steal her away from her adorable baby Caitlyn.
More girls night to come! :)

105 months and The Baked Tuna Pasta success!

Last Feb 8, Bu and I celebrated our 105 months of being together. Talk about history! We will be turning 9 this May 8 *happiness*.  I woke up and saw this:
*I died..*
All these years...he never fails to put a smile on my face. I feel so loved. <3

So what better way to return this huge act of sweetness? Do something out of my comfort zone for him - COOKING! I am not the best cook in the world (not even the BETTER cook or perhaps even the worst) so me cooking will be a tragedy in the making!

I remember cooking for him once and it was an ultimate epic fail! Even our house helper thought it was not edible at all! Thats how bad I am in my cooking meter skill. This time I was hoping to up the meter from zero to hero!  Challenge accepted!

Got the recipe from M Pumpkin. Thanks love! This was kind of cheating since the sauce is already pre made...but It wasn't my dream to join the Masterchef cooking reality show so this should do it. As long as it's yummy and ze boyfriend will love it...then I'm fine. :)
The ingredients

1. Leggo's Tuna Bake Spinach and Garlic Sauce
2. Fresh Parsley
3. 4 Cans of Century Tuna Lite
4. Cowhead Pure Milk Low Fat High Calcium
5. Garlic
6. Barilla Integrale Fusilli
7. Del Monte Sweet Corn Cream Style
8. Perfect Italiano Pizza Plus Mozzarella, Cheddar & Parmesan

Steps:
1. Saute chopped garlic in the pan with olive oil until slightly golden brown.
2. Add the drained tuna.
3. Add chopped parsley.
4. Add Del Monte Sweet Corn.
5. Add milk.
6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
7. Set Aside.
8. Cook pasta as instructed.
9. In a bowl, mix the pasta and the sauce set aside previously. Make sure sauce is evenly distributed.
10. Transfer it in a baking foil. Top it with grated mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan cheese, chopped parsley and basil.
11. Place it in the oven to bake (see instructions at the back of the baked tuna sauce container)
12. Voila! Here's the finished product!
It was a success! Thanks Pumpkin and M for helping me!

After a sumptuous meal, of course - we had to burn those extra calories! We ended our monthsary/pre valentines date at the gym <3
Happy 105th and valentines bu! :)

Daniel Boulud Bistro Moderne

When the girls and I decided to watch Wicked, we agreed to meet up earlier for a nice lunch. N was kinda craving for burger and so we tried Daniel Boulud Bistro Moderne.

It was very convenient as it was just right across the MBS Grand Theater. :)

The burger menu
Was on diet mode and didn't feel like eating bread so I opted for the Steak Minute. It was gooood! I chose the medium - well temp and it was perfect! The potatoes were great as well!
D on the other hand, ordered The Original db Burger. Say hello to the foie grass!
Delish breads were served right away. Great service btw :)
J ordered the Yankee burger with truffle fries! Yum!
And since the loo was really lovely...we just needed to do some camwhoring :)

Semi peg for the day: Lemon Breeland of Hart of Dixie :P
