Late New Year post...but it's CNY - so must still be appropriate. Stumbled upon this one in ThoughtCatalog and I must say, it's a preeetty good read. Not that I'm deviating to my 'practice what you preach' mantra, but achieving this is hardcore!
Comments inline :)
1. Before you status update, Tweet, Tumble or Instagram, pause and say to yourself 'is it entirely necessary that I share this morsel of though with my entire social network, and if the answer is not, 'yes, i must absolutely must', then - step away from the Internet
- Not hard. I think I learned 'filtering' these past few years.
2. Know which candidate you are going to vote for in the upcoming presidential election, and know why.
- Hmmmkay...I'll do a research once the names are in.
3. Enough with the 14-day juice cleanses. If you want to lose a little weight quickly, eat less and exercise like crazy. If you want to lose a lot of weight slowly, do whatever Jennifer Hudson did.
- Not familiar with the JHudson diet, but I'm running and doing yoga now so ----check!
4. If you really like the person you’re hooking up with and would like them to be your boyfriend/ girlfriend, find a way to tell them, and hope for the best. If you don’t and wouldn’t, stop.
- N/A Been in love with the same guy for almost 9 years now. Yun oh!
5. Find a way to save approximately 300 dollars and spend it on a flight to see a friend or family member who lives far away.
- Does going back to Manila counted? Flying back just for friends and their weddings - check ulit!
6. Please stop liking the Kardashians, all of them. It’s not helping anyone, least of all the Kardashians.
- I just recently started watching the Kardashians and liking them, pwede bigyan ng chance? Haha
7. Spend less than or equal to the money you earn each month.
- This, I have to work on :)
8. Wear clothes that fit you, especially to work.
- Dress to success baby!
9. Call someone on the phone at least once a week, and speak to him or her for at least ten minutes.
- Calling my mom and dance at least once a week to catch up
10. Start preparing now to get over the fact that Facebook is probably going to change again in six months. You’re not going to deactivate your account. You don’t know how.
- Not that I plan to. But FB is getting better with all the new features. Kudos to that!
11. Wait 30 seconds before you look up a fact you can’t remember on your phone, and try to remember it using your brain. This is what the olden days were like.
- This is really hard! Google is my best friend and I have no plans to burn bridges. Will try though.
12. Replace one terrible reality show you’re currently watching with one wonderful scripted show currently available on television. Swap suggestion: Real Housewives of Anywhere for HBO’s Enlightened.
- I finished Jersey Shore till season 4. It was fun so wont be able to get over reality shows. That is where the drama's at. I'm watching a whole heap of other stuff. How To Make It in America is a good HBO series as well.
13. Try that food you think you don’t like but have never actually tried, unless it’s brussels sprouts. They really don’t need any more attention.
- Not adventurous on food though. Soooo...will try this year na lang. No promises.
14. Cut one person out of your life who you truly do not like and add one person who you truly do. Note: not on Facebook, on Earth.
- Really? I thought one of life's purpose is to forgive and forget not to cut someone off.
15. If you’re still blacking out regularly, you should stop.
- Nah.
16. Volunteer once over the next 90 days. You’ll feel really good about it, and probably end up volunteering again over the next 275.
- Good idea. Might as well try being the Good Samaritan every now and then.
17. Tell someone who you love that you love them on a more regular basis. To their face, not in a text.
- Been doing that :)
18. Back up your entire online life onto an external hard drive, especially your photos.
- Panic attack! Will.do.it.NOW!
19. Crap or get off the pot. This applies to whatever thing you’re not doing that you should just sack up and do already.
- Back to blogging. Been neglecting it and it's time to go back!
20. And in the eternal words of Tom Haverford, “TREAT YO SELF!”
- This is easy! I can do it everyday!
Out of 20, I need to work on 10 things. Not bad! :)
So this 2012 Year of the Water Dragon, what do you need to work on? Challenge the list! :)

Networking 101: Work The Room With Confidence And Style
I attended this session which mainly talks about networking in its basic form. I totally loved it! The speaker was Karen Leong who's a coach at The Leadership Company Pte Ltd.
Networking 101 was summed up into 3 tips.
Networking Success Tip # 1
Make people want to network with you. Create a great first impression.
True. As the saying goes 'First impression lasts'. People are innately judgmental. It only takes 2 seconds for us to decide if we want to talk to a person or not. So in order for us to remain on the social circle, be that person anyone would like to talk to.
Networking Success Tip # 2
Have a host mentality, not a guest mentality.
Make it more about others than you.
SAVE THE WALLFLOWER!
My favorite tip! It basically tells us to be the life of the party but not steal the party! People are generally interested to people they can relate to. So listen. Don't be such a blabber! And of course, save the wallflower..save the world. If you see a lonely soul in a networking event, save that person! It kinda reminds me of the slogan 'Share a seat, win a friend!' Same simple logic. You'll never know, gratitude comes a long way. So from being zero...time to be a hero! :D
Networking Success Tip # 3
Add value to your keep in touch.
Build your network before you need it.
Do not burn bridges! You'll never know - that someone you met and had a great conversation with few years back might be the next CEO of an upcoming social media hub!
:) Off to bed...sleepy. Tomorrow's swimming lesson day 2 begins :D haymheksayted!
